Animal abuse rampant in the unethical showbiz industry

While it can be fun and entertaining to watch animals performing elaborate tricks for people, unknowingly, we are continuing to drive income to one of the most corrupt industries where animals are treated horribly. Taken forcibly from their natural habitats and kept locked up in tiny spaces, away from their pack and family, these wild animals go through a lot of hardships, only for humans to train them into perfectly functioning playthings that profit them enormously. The living conditions of these animals is often deplorable and they are treated badly when not in front of a crowd.

While the condition of animals is much better in established animal parks that are well funded compared to moving circuses, they still take animals away from their natural habitat to a well-designed cage.

Animal tourism especially in countries like Indonesia, Thailand, Malaysia, Cambodia, etc are all corrupt industries where it might look fun and wholesome to clueless tourists but as soon as the show is over, the animals are back in their horrible living conditions, being treated like just a means to an end instead of a living and breathing creature itself!

Studies showed that in places in which animal tourism was prevalent, most venues didn’t even meet the basic needs of the animals held captive in it. These include venues offering wildlife tourism entertainment, like elephant rides, elephant shows, a selfie with orangutans, tigers, and swimming with captive dolphins or watching them perform a show. Some of the venues were so inhumane that the dolphins there had their teeth completely filed down or even entirely removed to ensure that swimmers were safe! Tigers were often bound by such heavy chains that they ended up getting injured when they tried to move.

These practices are still rampant all over the world! No matter how aesthetic or clean the place looks, it is still not ethical and morally correct to keep animals in captivity for our entertainment.
