Effects of the pandemic on individual social media usage. <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Social media has always played a major role at bringing the world to our doorstep, broadening our daily horizons. However, there are instances when our daily dose of social media may undergo drastic changes when there is a breach in our normal everyday lives. Such a breach has been witnessed across the globe since the early onset of 2020 and has brought about dire changes in every aspect of life as we know it- the Covid 19 pandemic.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Pandemics although occur rarely, when they do, they have always made drastic changes to the course of human culture over centuries, and the world was arguably not prepared for another pandemic in 2020. In less than a year, Coronavirus has completely reversed the way we work, as we try to go on with our normal lives with social distancing included in it, rules have elicited a more virtual presence, both actually and accurately. It is changing what we constituted as normal.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The lockdowns observed all over the world have shut several doors for people, irrespective of all aspects. The way that online action has expanded across the world during lockdown is nothing unexpected or astonishing- figures show almost 50% of Internet consumers using social media platforms more than before. Given the lack of choices, the utilization of digital platforms for the purpose of socializing is inevitable and only natural. Owing to the limitations surrounding lockdowns, online replacements of most facilities have paved their ways into our lives. Physical activities like running, walking, jogging, etc. have now been replaced by social media activities such as virtual fitness classes, consistent news feed browsing, and video chats. It has been also observed that the individuals have developed a tendency to be socially active and interact with their fellows to avoid internal conflicts. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

In prior times, consumers of social media content were limited to a certain age group. However, with the current scenario, no age group is barred from consuming social media content any longer.
