One of the most important factors that affect the company is their employees. If the employees work whole-heartedly and contribute immensely to their work, then a company would sure-shot succeed. Employees are the backbone of any company, and they are aware about this which is why motivating them to work can be quite a task.

A lot of social scientists have worked to find out how to motivate a person’s behaviour so that it mirrors in their work as well. Productivity at work is extremely important and playing the employees psychology greatly affects that.

Let’s take a classic theory “Maslow’s Hierarchy of Needs”. The theory focuses on the most basic needs of every person without which a person cannot survive. These needs are all psychologically fitted in our brains. These basic needs are also required at our workplace and without it, employees become disinterested at work affecting the productivity.

Let’s start with the first need that is physiological. This means getting basic necessities in a workplace like a clean environment, ventilation as well as proper equipment to work with. If these things are provided properly then an employee with feel as sense of satisfaction which is very important

Then comes safety. One of the reasons why a person works is for security. Security of himself/herself as well as his/her family. If a company provides things like health insurance, maternity/paternity leaves, as well as financial security, then an employee would be mentally at peace and would work for the company without fear or stress which would automatically affect in the productivity.

A sense of belongingness is so important. It is very important for any employee to feel at ease while working. If the surrounding is negative and tense he/she wouldn’t be able to concentrate. Having a set of good people around and having a good and stress-free surrounding helps the employees to have a positive outlook and approach towards work.

Self-esteem is probably one of the most important factors that affect the productivity at a workplace. Everyone has opinions and voices but everyone doesn’t have the patience to listen. Listening to every possibility and opinions is in a way respecting that person which is what a lot of employees crave for. Mutual respect always sparks a sense of loyalty for the company and this will largely affect the productivity of work.

Keeping your work environment uplifted and positive is what keeps an employee sane and mentally at peace. At the end of the day, it is all psychological and its all in the head. If the employees are mentally satisfied, the productivity at work is sure to improve.

Each company aims at successfully growing their business every second which is why they are always looking for something that would be beneficial for them.
