Some love to read and get every bit of detail while some love watching a film a and teleport themselves in that world. There are so many movies being made and a lot of them have been adapted from famous books. Films like Raazi, 3 idiots and 2 states managed to make the audience swoon while some, not s0 much. Let’s have a look at some of the movie adaptations of books that didn’t capture the crowd as much and seemed to have missed the mark.

Aisha (Emma): Most people are unaware of the fact that Rajshree Ojha film was an adaptation of the classic novel Emma written by Jane Austen. While the novel is a cult classic, the film was kind of average. The story is about a girl who believes herself to be a cupid and great at matchmaking and sets a lot of her friends up. The story revolves her and her journey of finding love. The novel is gorgeous and written beautifully and still considered to be a piece of art. On the other hands, Aisha was not as applauded and the performances were criticized as well. Though the music by Amit Trivedi became a huge hit but the plot and the direction were a sure shot miss.

Noor (Karachi, You’re killing me!): This 2017 film Noor is the adaptation of the Saba Imtiaz’s written novel called Karachi, You’re killing me. The story follows a girl and her daily life struggles and how she copes up with them. While the book was a huge hit, the movie didn’t manage to live up to expectations. The performances were not at par, nor was the direction. The book is funny yet hard-hitting and just so relatable in numerous ways but Noor didn’t wok as well for the audience and surely missed the mark.

The Zoya Factor (The Zoya Factor): This film was released in 2019 with Sonam Kapoor and Dulquer Salman in the lead, directed by Abhishek Sharma. The film is the adaptation of the Anuja Chauhan’s written 2008 book that goes by the same name. The story is about a girl, Zoya Solanki who ends up being a lucky charm for the Indian Cricket team with the annoyance of the captain Nikhil. While the book is funny, light-hearted and romantic, the movie unfortunately is none. The movies did not manage to capture the essence of the book and did not impress the audience at all.

Saawariya (White nights): If you didn’t know already, Saawariya is based on a short story called “White nights” written by Fyodor Dostoevsky. The short story is extremely popular and also very well loved but the film unfortunately did not do as well. Sanjay Leela Bhansali is a marvellous director but the film, not so much. The film was extremely slow and the characters had no depth to them. The cinematography didn’t stand out and nor did the performances. Unfortunately, this film did not receive applaud, instead failed terribly at the box office.

Everyone has different choices when it comes to coming in terms with a story.
