Sometimes you decide what you are going to have in advance, but, most times you keep yourself open to suggestions and that&#8217;s when menu designers grab the opportunity to trick you into paying more. They put thoughts into your mind while subconsciously affecting the way you select your food.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Here are ways in which restaurants trick you into spending more:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol><li>They play with words and place signs inculcating a well-prepared marketing strategy to get you to expend more.<\/li><li>They use phrases like &#8216;happy hour,&#8217; &#8216;unlimited food,&#8217; and &#8216;buy two glasses, get the bottle free&#8217; that make you order more because you think you are saving, but, in reality, you&#8217;re not.<\/li><li>If you find the over-friendly staff checking on you to see if you&#8217;re satisfied, know that it&#8217;s a trick and there is always a price included. For example, if you ask for water, they will get you bottled water rather than tap water, adding more money to the bill.<\/li><li>Some restaurants illustrate delicious-looking photos on the menu to grab your attention. There is a high possibility that those photos are of the restaurant&#8217;s most expensive dishes.<\/li><li>Using too many adjectives and flowery language on the menu is done to persuade you to order more and make you forget about the actual price.<\/li><li>They trigger nostalgia with their dishes&#8217; names such as&nbsp;<em>Moms Magic<\/em>&nbsp;or&nbsp;<em>Grandma&#8217;s Kitchen&nbsp;<\/em>invoking memories of your family.&nbsp;<\/li><li>Using cultural terms to describe a dish can also entice you to spend more.
