Dining out is one of the classic experiences one can have. Restaurants offer executive services, a beautiful ambiance and great food. Restaurants don’t just provide food, they provide a mesmerizing dining experience that encourages people to visit again. Apart from providing a good time, they also wish to convince the customer to spend more. Here’s how they use tricks to do it-<\/p>\n\n\n\n

  1. Using attractive adjectives- The description of a dish gives an insight to the customer about how the food is going to be and creative adjectives such as ‘soft, tender, juicy’ etc give out a delicious tone. These adjectives also lend a well-made, expensive vibe to the dish.<\/li>
  2. Using tricky unconventional numbers- Odd figures create an assumption of the price being lesser than it actually is. For example- 999 instead of 1000, 499 instead of 500 and so on. This makes the customer think the end bill would be lesser and thus they end up ordering more.<\/li>
  3. Building relationships- Food also has a warmth to it and if the name builds a bond with the consumer, it is more likely to be preferred over others. Example- farmer’s pizza, grandma’s recipe, kid’s favorite and so on.<\/li>
  4. Designing a medium- If there are two options of small and large, small being priced at 10 and large at 30, people are inclined to choose small but if a medium is added at 25, then large seems a more economical option.<\/li>
  5. Increasing the price of second-best- The second most expensive items are overpriced to make the first one look considerably cheaper. This attracts customers to spend on the most expensive one without even knowing.<\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n

    Several such tricks are designed to make customers spend more money. These are traditional in nature and very difficult to identify. People usually ignore thinking it won’t matter or create a significant impact without knowing that these little tricks are actually shaping their spending behavior.
