Technology is advancing at such a fast\npace, and we are growing closer to each other on a global level. Unfortunately,\nwe are distancing ourselves from who we are, and what we are. Sounds strange,\nright? But it is true. We have become very dependent on technology, to the\npoint that we let I decide how we feel and how we are. This is the day and age\nof social media, as it is affecting us massively. A like and a follow makes us\nmuch happier than a genuine \u201chello\u201d from our friends. Do you remember the last\ntime you met your friends and has a hearty laugh without actually clicking any\npicture and putting it up on social media? You know the answer, as it was long\nback. Let\u2019s first understand that social media can\u2019t control you nor can it\ndecide your worth.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
We have been trapped in the world of\nsocial media to the point where if we don\u2019t get enough likes, we are ready to\nremove off the post. Why did you post, was it because you wanted to express\nwhat you felt like, or was it to impress others? You might not be able to\nanswer the question, as you are confused yourself. A thump up or a thump down\nhas enough power to control your emotions and shake your self-esteem, isn\u2019t\nthat weird. Who gave it that much power? We are extremely insecure as people,\nwhich is why social media became our only resort, our only escape. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
But, we must not let social media control\nus in any way, as it not only will affect us in a negative way but will also\nheavily affect our mental health. A lot of times we tend to delete a picture of\nsocial media, even if we liked just because it didn\u2019t get enough likes. The\nnumber of likes does not define us, nor do we need to give it enough power to\naffect our esteem. It takes a lot of courage to express ourselves out on a\nsocial media platform, and letting that courage go downhill just because of\nsome petty like button is absolutely wrong. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
We have the luxury to be ourselves, so\nwhy waste it for something that is not even worth it. Social media is an\nincredible source through which you can connect to people, but connecting to\npeople shouldn\u2019t distance you from yourself. You are you, and that\u2019s the most\nimportant thing in the world. The real world is much bigger and much more\nimportant than social media. So, concentrate on how you are outside rather than\nbeing depressed and sitting behind a mobile or a computer screen.
