Googling the word \u2018geeks\u2019 lands me the definition,<\/p>\n

\u201cGeeks: an unfashionable or socially inept person.\u201d<\/p>\n

Another definition, reads \u201cengage in or discuss computer-related tasks obsessively or with great attention to technical detail.\u201d<\/p>\n

Once upon a time, words like \u201cgeek\u201d and \u201cnerds\u201d were besmirched with awkwardness, stigmatized with social ineptness, and characterized by people who wore big chunky glasses and shieded away from any contact with people.<\/p>\n

Then, came social media with its onslaught of quotes on nerds, geeks and the eventual binge sharing of \u201cNerds? We prefer the term intellectual badass\u201d or even John Green\u2019s famous \u201cSaying ‘I notice you’re a nerd’ is like saying, ‘Hey, I notice that you’d rather be intelligent than be stupid, that you’d rather be thoughtful than be vapid, that you believe that there are things that matter more than the arrest record of Lindsay Lohan.\u201d<\/p>\n

And suddenly, it was cool to be a geek. Johnny Depp was rocking the geeky chic look, celebs were donning the cat eyed glasses for no apparent reason and the wave of wanna-be geeks had begun.
\nBut, let me tell you about the actual geeks. They\u2019ve been here before, they will be here after. They\u2019re a bunch of people high on intellectualism and low on superficial social furbelows.<\/p>\n

    \nOnce you\u2019re friends with geeks, there\u2019s no stopping the diet of facts and figures, stories and inspirations, the dreams and constant snippets of some xyz famous personality they\u2019re besotted with, due to their technical superiority. Geeks are always in an \u2018Aye\u2019 state of motion when it keeps to having a badass intellectual conversation, be it the middle of the night or an impromptu stop by the chai-wala.<\/li>\n
  2. They keep you grounded with their practical viewpoints<\/strong>
    \nYou\u2019ll never catch a geek behaving like the typical protagonist of the Indian Tv shows. Low on drama and high on logic, you can always trust the geeks to spell out the cold hard truth, spoken from their brutal honesty mode (which, unfortunately, stays permanently ON)<\/li>\n
  3. Keep your gadgets hassle free<\/strong>
    \nMany geeks tend to be gadget enthusiasts as well, and you can enjoy all your gadgets, safe in the knowledge that any irregularity can be done away with, by you oh-so-cool gadget addict. Also, you don\u2019t have to think two pins before splurging your money on cameras and phones, as the geek in your life is sure to land you the best possible deal in the budget proffered by you.<\/li>\n
  4. Allow creative freedom<\/strong>
    \nToo many editors take away the writer’s bubble of creativity by refusing to trust them, failing to recognize that a writer emulates the person, the situation, the character with each clientele. A writer thinks, acts and becomes like the person they’re writing.
    \nAccept that every writer will have their own style of writing. Allow them creative freedom. Learn to trust their instincts.
    \nDickens, Austen and J.K Rowling are proof enough that no matter what the writing style, a great piece of writing will remain so, no matter what.<\/li>\n
  5. Also… They tend to become millionaires<\/strong>
    \nWell, if the Mark Zuckerbergs and Bill Gates of the world are anything to go by, even dropping out of Harvard University is, but a small dent when you go on to become CEOs of empires that churn out money by the billions. Turns out, following your heart is the ultimate cool.<\/li>\n
  6. If the popular sitcoms are anything to go by…<\/strong>
    \nBig Bang Theory and its bunch of nerds, led on the forefront, by the poster boy for geekiness, Sheldon Cooper, had the world waiting for each episode as the bunch of characters and their stories made for aching tummies and guffaws of loud laughter.<\/li>\n
  7. They divert your mind to better opportunities<\/strong>
    \nYou\u2019ll never catch the geeks wasting time on gossips or other superficial stuff. The geeks are an ambitious lot, who cannot be diverted from their goals. You\u2019d find them bent over a book or two, scrutinizing the intricacies of electronic circuits or chewing a pen, finding solutions to complex problems ( World peace? Malnutrition? Who knows?)
