Are there more benefits to WFH than with normal office environment?

What is work from home (WFH) and why is everyone speaking about it?

Work from Home is a fairly new work culture that many companies and organizations have adopted during this pandemic. While the pandemic forced everybody to stay inside their houses, these companies adopted a new working method wherein the employees had the leisure of working from the comfort of their own houses. The work from home culture has prevailed for a while now but it got limelight during the pandemic.

There is an ongoing debate about the benefits and negative effect of WFH. While some say it is beneficial than regular office environment, others are saying that it has created a rise in mental and physical problems. Like every coin has two sides, WFH also has its pros and cons.

Some of the benefits of WFH are:

  • People are working from the comfort of their own homes. This familiar environment has proven to be beneficial for the workers.
  • People are getting more time to spend with their families. Generally, office going people do not have time for their families, but WFH culture has changed that. Now they can work and also enjoy ample amount of family time.
  • WFH has saved a lot of traveling time. The commute to one’s office always took up a lot of their time. But now they can save all that time and can do something beneficial. WFH has also saved a lot of travelling expenses for the employees.
  • While working from home, people can set up their own schedules and working hours are not as hectic as they used to be.
  • Meetings and conferences are taking place online and this has made people’s job easier. These online facilities have created a systematic work flow for the employees.

Today, because of the ongoing debate, it is very difficult to tell whether WFH has more benefits than normal office environment. But many people have spoken in favor of this work culture. Recently, the Billionaire, philanthropist- Bill Gates was heard saying that, “The work from home culture has worked well and many companies will continue with the system even after the coronavirus pandemic ends.”

To conclude, it is best if we continue working from home because the pandemic doesn’t seem to be ending anytime soon. And what after the pandemic you ask? Well, only time will tell!
