Baking Hacks That Save The Game
Baking is therapeutic for a lot of people in a lot of ways. It calms one down as well as helps them feel a sense of power, which is so satisfying. There is something about eating food that we make ourselves. A cake made with our own hands tastes much sweeter as well as much more delicious, as it has the love and warmth which are the ingredients that are the most required in baking. Of course, everyone makes mistakes, we are humans after all. Baking is one job wherein the chances of committing errors are just the same for a rookie as well as a professional. Little things like setting the temperature, decorating, making the dough, etc all require a lot of patience and concentration, which is why making some mistakes is natural. Few hacks will help you save your baking game, so let’s have a look at those.
The temperature of the oven: One of the common mistakes that people make while baking is not setting the temperature right. A lot of times the temperatures displayed on the oven may not per the actual one, which may completely ruin the preparation. One of the best solutions for this is not to open the door of the oven constantly. Opening the oven, again and again, may lead the air to get inside, which may affect the temperature. Of course, if you want to flip the baked goods, then it is valid, but if not, it is better to watch the goodies through the window.
If the cake is too wet or too dry: Baking a cake requires expertise, and a lot of times it is possible that the cake’s consistency doesn’t come out as moist and perfect. In case the cake is too dry, just poke some holes on the top and cover it up with some sugar syrup. This will allow the case to suck some much-needed moisture for the perfect consistency. In case the cake seems too wobbly and runny, cover it up with foil and decrease the temperature by 75 degrees and let it cook for some time until the cake reaches its consistency.
Melted chocolate is clumping: Working with chocolate can be quite tricky and one of the most common disasters that take place while melting chocolate is the clump formation. Melted chocolate tends to form lumps making the texture uneven. The reason for the clump formation is water. Even a little water can cause this problem, so to start, always ensure that the bowl in which you will melt the chocolate is completely dry. If the melted chocolate already started forming lumps, add a little vegetable oil, this will help with a smooth, even, and soft consistency.
Eggs whites aren’t fluffy enough: Fluffy egg whites play a very important role in baking, which is one of the reasons most people take a lot of time to whip them to perfection. It may happen that the eggs do not whip at all and aren’t getting that much-needed fluff. Firstly, use fresh eggs as stale eggs are most likely to not have that fluff, which is why using fresh eggs is important. Coming to the utensils, make sure that the bowl and the whisk are completely dry. Water can change the proportion and can make the eggs feel runny, which is not what we want. Following these little things makes a lot of difference in the outcome.
