Can listening to ASMR while studying help

ASMR, Autonomous Sensory Meridian Response, is a tingly sensation felt in the scalp or the neck due to certain sensations such as sounds, visuals, touch, and so on. Along with the tingles, it relaxes the mind and calms a person down. The ASMR genre is currently a growing community on YouTube and other social media platforms, where video creators make relaxing sounds and visuals for people to use to sleep or relax. ASMR is produced with simple objects also referred to as ‘triggers’. Tapping, scratching and gently whispering or soft speaking are considered triggers that give ASMR. Those soft noises create a peaceful atmosphere and help people to calm down and focus on relaxation. People also use these relaxing sounds as background music while doing their day-to-day chores.

Many studies have suggested that listening to ASMR while studying can be beneficial as it reduces stress and the soft noises are not as distracting as music. Children going through trauma or restlessness while studying can also benefit as it takes away focus from everything around you and makes you think only of what’s in front of you. Other categories of ASMR such as personal attention, positive affirmations, etc help in improving self-esteem and create a feeling of being loved.
