Misleading Movie Trailers That Deceived Audience

An incredible movie trailer not only intrigues you to see a new flick, but it also gives you key events of some of the film’s promising scenes so that you’re promptly sold to watch it. But we discover that the final product can be very distinct from what was shown in the trailers. Sometimes, trailers delude the audience by deliberately misleading them and showing something about the story that does not remain valid to the film.

Here, we have highlighted some of the most misleading movies that critically misstate a film’s tone and plot for saleable purposes:

  1. Kangaroo Jack –2003
The trailer of the movie Kangaroo Jack depicted the film as family-friendly fun while in reality, it was a shady mafia satire. Combined with constant shots of the lead characters yelling and pratfalling, it helped ascertain to the audience that the movie was a goofy family-friendly drama. Instead, many kids had to watch mafia comedy associated with adult friendships and unsuccessful ambitions. The marketing was done so effectively that led the film to the top of the box-office over its first week.
  2. Click – 2006
The trailer demonstrated this film as a classic Adam Sandler comedy, finished with his absurd tones and capers. Even though the movie is far from perfect, it is much better than what the trailer signifies. It does have components from a typical Adam Sandler comedy but it’s also surprisingly emotional. The audience went to watch this film anticipating a brainless comedy but were stunned to discover that Sandler’s film could be sentimental to a great extent.
  3. Sweeny Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street – 2007
Starring Johnny Depp, Helena Bonham Carter, a black, white, and red color palette, some light music, and Tim Burton, this film is a gothic-horror story of a wrongly accused man returned to take revenge on the judge who tore his life apart. The trailer illustrates an accurate representation of the film but it doesn’t explain this is musical, you’ll see only one small glimpse of Depp singing a song and no one else, which is not a valid portrayal of this full-on musical drama.

These are the 3 movies that managed to misdirect audiences by displaying deceiving trailers.
