Social media ads and their prevalence during the pandemic

Social Media has now become a very big platform for all the marketers to promote their products and market their ideas especially during pandemic, since people are rigorously using social media on a day-to-day basis. Put an ad on social media, and it doesn’t take time to blow up and go viral.

Let’s take a simple and a classic example of “Baba ka dhaba”, an eatery that was unknown to people and didn’t do enough business to even feed an old couple now is a popular joint for all youngsters. All it took was a video, that’s it. Just a video of the couple sharing their problems with the world blew up to the point where a popular Instagram page “Humans of Bombay” featured them.

Another great example is “Amul”, a brand not unknown. What Amul does is, it takes everyday topics and advertise them on social media to promote their products. It ranges everything from “Dhoni’s retirement news” to “US Elections”. Just a post on social media helps them promote their product efficiently.

Pandemic has been quite a nightmare for everyone, but Social Media has been growing better than ever. So many people have started small businesses online as it literally has less investment and more returns.

Just when we thought that movie industry would suffer losses as theatres are closed and the means of promotion is limited, came social media and handed them all with perfection. With various challenges and competitions held on social media, it garnered even more attention onto the films than it would do offline. Web series and movies released online helped the underrated actors showcase their talent and skills and reached new heights of success.

Influencers or social media celebrities are such a way to attract all their followers. What brands do is they pitch influencers into promoting their product via a story or a post and Voila, that’s it. The product receives overnight advantage, that’s the power of social media advertising.

Hence, in simple words, Social media is a terrific platform and in fact became the main platform during pandemic to product their products, be it small items for business or big budget movies. It did justice to all in the most natural way possible. The shift from offline to online was quite a visual.
