People have become much more conscious about the types of businesses they buy from and interact with. It is not only the product or services of the brand that influences their buying decision anymore but things like treatment for workers, their general brand policy, their vision and mission, all such elements play a role in their final choice. 

One such company on top of the list is “Amazon” which is now infamous for its poor treatment of the factory workers. The almost inhuman working rules for employees of the amazon factory outraged people all over the world. Amazon also got a strong backlash in China due to selling shirts with political graphics. They were accused of cultural insensitivity which when reached US media, made Amazon release a public statement taking back their stance in China. 

While security breach can be harmful to any and all company’s reputation, it is even worse when it happens to a cybersecurity firm which claims to protect other people’s online information safe. Imperva is a renowned cybersecurity company however it faced its biggest mishap on August 20th of 2019 when they had to inform customers that a data breach had revealed their user’s email addresses, passwords, API keys and also SSL certificated for some WAF consumers leaving their online data vulnerable and exposed to hackers while being under the protection of a cybersecurity company. 

Goya Foods came under fire after they openly showed their support for then US President, Donald Trump. Being the largest Hispanic-owned food company in the US, to sell products from the Caribbean, Mexico, Spain, Central and South America, they should have shown sympathy towards the Hispanic community instead CEO Robert Unanue praised Donald Trump at an event at the White House, as Trump had signed the Hispanic Prosperity Initiative. This angered many and a call for boycotting the brand came about.
