The social media burn-out, why are people more stressed with social media becoming even more prevalent?:

Staying in touch with friends and family, reconnecting with people, building new friendships are some of the benefits of using social media. But just like anything else in the world, it also comes with certain demerits. Social media causes stress, anxiety, depression, addiction, etc. The question is, are the benefits worth it that you have to make such sacrifices in your daily lives?

Stress cannot be avoided in life, it is indeed a way of life. But social media has escalated stress in most adults. It may not be comprehensive, but it is a reality. The use of these web-based networks is addictive for most individuals. People are now seen to always be on their mobile phones, scrolling through feeds, commenting, and tweeting, looking for that one drip of dopamine. It becomes unfeasible for such addicted people to stay without their phones for some time. It makes them anxious and stressed out. They are left with a feeling that they are not enough updated about their surroundings and the world. This has got a term too recently which is “the fear of missing out.”

Social media also takes a toll on most adult’s sleep. It deprives one of the quality sleep that is needed for a human body to function each day. When individuals are supposed to be asleep, they are often found out to be browsing these social networking applications. This not only cuts down on the amount of time they get to sleep but also the quality of sleep they eventually get. And the day after, the individual feels anxious because of the lack of sleep they got. The users who have had negative exchanges on these websites are also prone to apprehensiveness and depression.

Keeping these points in mind, each and everyone must regulate their use of social media so that they are affected in neither the short term nor long term.
