Ads of the past that would be too controversial

As we all know, there are thousands of ads running on television throughout the day. All the ads are unique and showcase mind-blowing concepts. On the other hand, many advertisements in the past created disputes and debates.

Ads in the past:

Many past ads did not follow moral standards and ethics. The concept and content of a few ads were not up to the mark as the ads were offensive which gave rise to arguments and disputes. This is how some ads gained attention for all the wrong reasons-

The Paytm ad starring Sachin Tendulkar glorifies a young child being slapped.

Amul’s ‘Wuhan Se Yahaan’ advertisement ignited controversy over being insensitive.

Jawed Habib’s ad featured Indian gods in his salon. Our country isn’t exactly tolerant when it comes to religion on TV/print.

Zomato ads played on the famous ‘MC BC’ by converting them to mac-n-cheese and butter chicken.

Dove – “Before & After”. This advertisement showed discrimination by implying that dark skin is dirty.

Netflix: Narcos wishes a “white Christmas” to Madrid

Hyundai & Ford – Fiascos in Advertising

Humans for Animals Hullabaloo

Dove — Body lotion Facebook ad in which Dove failed to celebrate the beauty of diversity.

H&M — Coolest monkey in the jungle. It appeared racist because of the words printed on the hooded top which was modelled by a person of color.

So mentioned above are the ads from the past that would be too controversial to post in today’s time!
