Television advertising is an industry that is worth about 75 billion dollars. Although with the advent of times television’s market share has dropped significantly, advertising on the internet has made sure that video advertisements are as popular, if not more. But what qualities does every great advertisement have? A few of the common traits are that they communicate the values of the brand and are memorable and shareworthy. Let’s have a look at some of the awards that not only took home awards but also our hearts.

“The Man Your Man Could Smell Like” by Old Spice (2010)

Old Spice’s advertisement campaign was perhaps the most absurd, laughable, and meme-able ever. When they found out that women make the bulk of purchasing decisions when it comes to body wash products of men, they took a road untraveled. The video was followed by a series of videos featuring Isaiah Mustafa telling women how their man can smell like if they use Old Spice. And it worked. It won nearly every major advertisement award in that year and currently has 58 million views on YouTube.

“Hungry Betty White” by Snickers (2010)

The “Hungry Betty White” advertisement that came out during the Super Bowl went viral and kicked off successfully an enormous campaign that increased the sales of the company by 30 million dollars in two years. It also reinvigorated Betty White’s career as she got a spot to host Saturday Night Live and landed many other roles.

“Paper” by Honda (2015)

This advertisement took its viewers through the 60-year-old history of Honda. It began with the founder Soichiro Honda’s thought to power his wife’s bicycle using a radio generator. The advertisement was created over four months with thousands of illustrations from dozens of artists. It was adored by the masses and ended up winning the Emmy Award.
