Being skinny and healthy are not directly proportional to each other.

Being skinny does not always equate to being healthy. While it’s all over the news that being overweight can lead to heart diseases , high blood pressure and diabetes among many other risks, its not completely true and does not automatically mean that being skinny will get you off the hook from these health risks.

Body fat can be stored deeper inside the body and around the organs or in the muscles therefore can be not outwardly visible on skinny people which goes to shows that anyone with a skinny figure could also be packing unhealthy fats in their body even if its not visible to the naked eye. People with a genetic variant having higher blood cholesterol levels and people who have trouble processing insulin are at much higher risk of being affected by diabetes than just people with more body fat count.

Several people on the thinner side of the scale do not even believe that they could be at risk of cardiovascular diseases or diabetes simply owing to the fact that they are skinny. When it really comes down to it, what determines a person’s susceptibility to diseases is not their outward appearance but their lifestyle and how they treat their body. If a person who is on the bigger side of the spectrum has a healthy lifestyle, does not indulge in harmful habits like smoking tobacco or drinking alcohol in excessive amounts, exercises regularly and truly takes care of themselves, they are just as healthy as any other healthy person of any shape.

At the end of the day, it is the people who take precautions, and regularly get screenings done for their health while practicing healthy habits in their everyday lives are the ones who are considered healthy.
