Calling out the Grammy’s for their snubs

Although the Recording Academy is infamous for often getting things wrong, The Grammy Award is still the most reputable and distinguished annual music award. We have put together some of the most outrageous and unjustifiable snubs in the history of the Grammys. These are the most prized pieces of music that never took home the ultimate gramophone.

“Billie Jean” and  “Beat It” by Michael Jackson (1984)

It was arguably written into the name of one of the songs of Michael Jackson that it was destined to beat The Police. Whereas, the other went on to become one of the greatest songs in music’s history. In this year, Jackson took home eight Grammys in one night. But yes, he deserved a ninth.

“Don’t Speak” by No Doubt (1998)

A song that served up Fleetwood Mac levels of band drama and took away complete control of the airwaves of America for several months in a row, “Don’t’ Speak” by No Doubt certainly deserved the gramophone in the year of 1998.

“I Want It That Way” by The Backstreet Boys (2000)

A superficial glance at the nominee list of the 2000 Grammy paints a doubtful shadow over the Academy’s decision-making skills. The Backstreet Boys’ “I Want It That Way” effectively bedecked the beginning of the century and was better than any other song that was nominated in the year.

“Despacito” by Daddy Yankee and Luis Fonsi (2018)

The Recording Academy had a golden opportunity in front of them to correct their course by awarding the biggest and most famous Spanish-language song and one of the biggest songs in the history of music too, in the year 2018. But unfortunately, they did not make justice to the award one more time!
