Can you really trust market surveys to help you

Whether you are launching a new product or conducting a simple market research, carrying out a survey is essential. Surveys are an age-old technique used by marketeers or brands to carry out different activities.

What is a survey?

A survey is a research method used for collecting data from a predefined group of people or representatives. This is done to gain insights or information on various topics of interest. A survey can have multiple purposes and can be conducted in many ways depending upon the researcher, the study’s goal and the type of methodology being used. Surveys can be conducted online, on paper, face-to-face or verbally. They are essentially a quantitative type of research where you get numerical data as the end result.

But the question is, can you really trust market surveys to help you?

This has been a point of debate for a long time now. Because what happens is that surveys today are not considered as a valid source of information by many people. They are of the opinion that surveys give out wrong information and numbers. It sometimes happens that brands or companies use false means to conduct surveys. The predefined group of people on which surveys are conducted are sometimes paid to write or give out certain pre-decided answers.

Another issue is that researchers or marketers do not tell the audience as to how many people have attempted a survey or what is the exact number. This leads us in getting false information and we are kind of mislead in certain ways.

We do not get correct information about products or services and that harms us as customers. It so happens that the brands do not even conduct surveys and give it out that a certain number of people believe in the brand. This keeps us in the dark. It is not that all the brands do this. There are certain brands and companies who actually give out true and dependable information.

In the end, it all depends on the audience’s perception and belief. If you trust in a certain brand, it is always safe to carry out a purchase.
