Does door-to-door selling work?

Old is always gold, be it in whichever sphere. While door to door marketing strategy is not one in trend these days, it is infact very effective to acquire new clients, especially given the magnitude of competition in the present day market. 

In the era of billboards, newspaper/ magazine and TV commercials, door to door marketing is sure to prove more efficient as it is capable of facilitating real connection with prospective customers. It establishes one-on-one personal communication, allowing the agent to tailor and customise their sales pitch according to the assumed needs of the clients. Well trained salespersons are also capable of making clients feel comfortable while attracting their interest, which is impossible for media commercials. Commercials are so many these days that it is very easy for them to get lost in the crowd, conveying no substantial information. As opposed to this, salespersons can initiate discussions with potential customers, thereby heightening the chances of acquiring new ones. 

With more and more companies resorting to social media marketing strategies and very few opting for door-to-door marketing, the latter is sure to work well with those who have not been appealed to by advertisements. This marketing strategy can also provide more information to people about the products being marketed, followed by affecting their decision-making. Salespersons can also answer any questions that the clients might have at the same time, which advertisements will never be able to. 

This strategy is also very cost effective as it will save funds spent on Public Relations, air time, graphic design and more. Launching a new product using door-to-door marketing only requires educating a sales team about the new product and they would be able to start selling immediately without needing any extra cost.
