How to market to senior citizens?

Marketing for seniors is a tad bit different from marketing for others. Apart from the bigger font, simpler words, it is also important to focus on the content of advertising that is delivered to the audience. Senior citizens are people with a lifetime of experience and someone who cannot be manipulated easily. The advertising should be point-based and lucrative enough for them to understand and be convinced enough to buy it. 

The basics of it start with using a good delivery for content. Content should be presented with relatable language and in a loud and well-defined visual format.  The colors chose should be calm and should not be overpowering. The delivery of content has to be made easy keeping their age in mind. It has to be heavily personalized and customized to cater to their needs and the criteria considered should be logical and not just emotional.

Understand that they are different than the younger generations and generalizations can cause more harm than good. Also understand who your product is targeted to, with senior citizens certain products are different, some of them are targeted towards senior citizens but the situation comes up where the buyer is different and the end consumer is different. For example- adult diapers. Although senior citizens may use it, it is their children or guardians (from the younger generation) who will be buying it. Having said this, it is not always the case in which this happens. Every product is different and should be handled the way it requires it to be.
