Is using the pandemic as a way of promoting your company’s products or services the right way to go?

The pandemic struck the world almost a year ago and still no country has been able get over its effects. People are living in fear, there has been loss of life and a state of crisis ha risen. Tackling this has not been easy for any country. It is almost like the world has come to a standstill. 

In this scenario the advertising sector has been doing immensely well. Brands have been promoting products and services in a full-fledged manner. Using the pandemic as a way of a way of promoting their goods and services is what brands have been doing rigorously. 

Every advertisement or promotional strategy that you see today includes the pandemic in some or the other way. Many brands have also shifted their focus health and safety more than anything else. The virus is what we have to live with and brands are making full use of this opportunity. 

But, is using the pandemic as a way of promoting your company’s products or services the right way to go?

Are brands using this strategy? Yes! Is this ethical? Certainly not! 

While including the pandemic in your advertisements or promotions is definitely not ethical, but it is the need of the hour. The pandemic is here to stay and people have been seeing, reading and listening about it for quite a long time now. The only way brands can promote their products and services is by including the pandemic or parts of it in the promotions.

Today even a simple ad of an FMCG products relates to the pandemic in some way or the other. Every brand has incorporated this strategy and has been benefitted by it. These are uncertain times and you never know what changes. Tomorrow the brands might find something else and will carry out promotions accordingly. Until then, all we have to deal with is the pandemic.
