Keep it original, it’s okay to be inspired but it’s not okay to copy.

Being ‘inspired’ refers to being motivated to do something like someone did (especially creative). Inspiration creates a positive feeling in the viewer to either create something based on another person’s artwork or be encouraged to make something on their own. On the other hand, copying is simply imitating someone else with zero originality or creativity of your own. This doesn’t result in any positive result but instead causes repetition. It also drags away all the credit from the original creator and the copier gets appreciation for just repeating.

With the digital world blooming, art has received its own space on the social media platform, where users post the content they create for others to view and appreciate. Doing this not only gives them fame and acknowledgment, but also attracts imitators who intend to just rip off the idea.

We learn by copying others, we understand right and wrong by doing so, it is not necessarily always bad. Like the popular proverb goes, imitation is the sincerest form of flattery. Having said that, not giving credit to the original creator is like stealing from someone. Ideas may not be a physical asset but stealing them does cause irritation, financial loss, and stress to the original creator. So, remember that it is okay to be inspired, to learn, to feel motivated by someone, but it is never okay to steal and benefit from someone else’s work. No part of your creation should be the exact copy, it should have its own peak of creativity.
