Movie Trailers That Tricked The Audience

A good movie trailer makes you feel the anticipation of watching a new story, but it also gives you key glimpses into the plot and characters so that you can watch it instantly.  However, by selling an illusion of a tale that does not stay true to the film, some trailers have fooled viewers.

Here are some trailers that have mislead the audiences:

  1. Kangaroo Jack- The film was pitched as a family-friendly comedy with the presence of a talking kangaroo and shouting characters in the trailer for Kangaroo Jack. The flick at the cinemas was watched by many children just to sit through a mafia comedy about adult partnerships and broken dreams. Over its opening weekend, the clever publicity tactic led the film to the top of the box office.
  2. Snow Dogs- This Disney film begins to look like a story following numerous talking dog characters after watching the trailer. Apart from the main Demon dog, however, the canines are not even central to the storyline. The audience will realize the clip from the trailer that contains talking is dogs is from a dream sequence in the movie after watching the film.
  3. Passengers- The teaser commercial, starring heavyweight Hollywood actors Jennifer Lawrence and Chris Pratt, strayed away from the core storyline. It seems as the pair were woken up on their space voyage by mistake, but in the film, Pratt’s character wakes up Lawrence for a reason to kill her effectively. His moral judgment turned off some viewers.
  4. Rules of Attraction- Although the trailer alerts viewers that the film was made by the minds behind Pulp Fiction and American Psycho, the preview promises a movie that deviates from the titles above. Humorous dialogue and adultery for young adults were seen, but filmmakers introduced a film involving depression, drug abuse, and alcoholism about a sociopath.

Thus, the trailer of these movies has misled the audiences and disappointed them with the final product.
