Naive advertising and why it is effective.

What is Native Advertising and is it effective?

Native advertising is a form of paid online media that is designed to match the visual content, its design, feel and function, that appear on our feed of recommended videos. Some of the largest social media companies like Facebook, Pinterest, Twitter, Instagram and more use native advertising as it is a unique form of integrated advertising.

It provides an opportunity for brands to connect with users in a way that is chosen by the user. Therefore, they provide great opportunity for creative exposure and the advertisers can gain assurance of the fact that users are already fond of the format in which the ad will be presented. It can also be less interfering and prying than traditional formats of advertising such as banner ads because it can integrate their marketing messages with the surrounding content, making it appear less jarring.

Native advertising also often seems to perform better than traditional ads as native advertising can be a powerful and highly effective format for businesses to use to get their potential prospects’ attention. Research has shown that although consumers are aware of the fact that a particular advertisement is paid for, it still manages to engage more attention than methods of traditional advertising as most of us have grown accustomed to seeing advertisements in every direction we look. And this can create ‘ad blindness’ Consumers within the study checked out native ads 53% more frequently than display ads.

Another way in which native advertising can be more effective is it’s high possibility of going viral across various modes. It has the unique ability of being shared by users, which is impossible for traditional banner or display ads. This aspect makes them a perfect fit for advertising campaigns that require a more interactive yet non-disruptive approach.
