Potatoes- the most versatile of foods

Potato is an absolute best friend whether at home or outside. It’s versatility lies in the face that it’s delicious no matter how it is prepared. Mash it or whip it, serve it with or without gravy, just fry it or make a gourmet dish with it, it will surprise you and delight you every time. People enjoy the taste of potatoes in nearly all their foods and it is rare to go a full day without a meal that does not include potatoes in some way or the other. Let’s take a look at some of the ways potatoes can be prepared to blow your minds.

Mashed potatoes is an absolute favourite among all age groups and it goes well with meatloaf, fried chicken, pork chops, even with meals including rice. Infact, mashed potatoes can be eaten without any accompaniment at all- the versatility!

Another very popular way of preparing potatoes is baking them. Baked potatoes too can be paired with just about everything, especially meat, or can even be eaten by themselves. 

Talking about potatoes and not mentioning French fries is unacceptable. There are a number of creative ways in which potatoes can be made into French fries and they’re all awesome! You can also add meat to your fries and transform it into a whole fries meal. 

You can not separate the lovely potatoes from even breakfasts- shred them into hash browns or make home fries out of them and you have your scrumptious breakfast partner. You can even choose from several recipes of potato soups which are not only filling but also tasty and healthy. 

Although potatoes, the ways in which we generally consume them everyday, are not the most healthy eating choices, potatoes are loaded with important nutrients like potassium, fiber, vitamin C, and complex carbohydrates. They are naturally fat free, cholesterol free, and contain no sodium. They are also among the top sources of potassium.
