Rise of the Content Creators on social media this quarantine

It is almost a year since we were struck by the deadly virus. This pandemic brought with itself a mountain of problems. With people getting infect everyday and schools and offices being shut, we were forced to stay inside our houses. People were working from home and there were no means of entertainment whatsoever. So, while being locked up inside their houses people took to social media. It was the only saving grace during this quarantine. This increased usage of social media gave rise to content creators.

Who is a content creator?

A content creator is someone who simply creates content and puts in on social media. This is a fairly new term that gained popularity because the number of users on social media grew. A content creator is a “social media star.” Their work simply revolves around putting posts or videos on their social media handles. Their popularity increases by the viewership they get and the number of times their post is shared. 

Why did content creators see a rise during this quarantine? 

• People were at home and had lots of free time
• Most of the people’s time was spent browsing social media networks
• Content is something that can be easily created from home
• Content creators brought entertainment in people’s lives
• They acted as an escape from the harsh reality that the world was in

She is one content creator who has been making videos and vines since a long time now. But during the quarantine she made videos on current happenings and added her own comic touch to it. Her character ‘Guddi Bhabhi’ is famous among the viewers. 

Akshar Pathak

He is one content creator who got famous through his posts. His posts are aesthetically vey simple and provide information through comedy. He used topics like ‘Levels of Laziness’ and posted about it in a comic manner. 

Masoom Minawala

In times where people were stuck at home, Masoom Minawala flourished by creating fashion videos. Her videos are fun, simplistic and great to watch. She inculcated normal, everyday clothes in her videos and made it fashion. 

Apart from these existing creators, there were people who started their own pages on social media handles to utilize their time.
