The world is filled with diverse religions and cultures which have existed from time immemorial. Movies form an integral part of life and they work not only to entertain people, but they also spread culture and help shape the opinions of people. There are different types of movies that are based on the culture and traditions of the people. Some movies show a sparkling light towards religion and some garner controversies with their stereotypical thinking. Here are some movies that caused a religious conflict among the people.

PK(2014):

This movie was a high grossing movie that still faces controversies from different groups. The Vishwa Hindu Parishad and Bajrang Dal were the two parties that contested that this movie hurt religious sentiments as it depicted the darker side of religious practices and superstitions in society.

 My Name is Khan(2010):

The director Karan Johar has portrayed a story with the theme of Islamophobia. This story was a good concept of a boy whose name was Khan but he was not a terrorist. Shivsena had taken efforts to halt the release of the movie.

Water(2015):

This movie threw light on a child’s marriage and the treatment of widows in the country. Before the release of this movie, many controversies led to protests and campaigns against it.

Noah(2014):

This movie had created chaos amongst Christians and hurt their sentiments as it has the story of the Old Testament.

It was considered one of the best horror movies with sexual imagery beliefs. All this created controversy among religious groups and hurt their sentiments.
