When the fans came together to save a show from being cancelled

From animated comedies, intricate sci-fi dramas to enthralling horror shows, every TV show gradually becomes a part of our lives and when they’re suddenly discontinued, that feeling is absolutely heart wrenching. However, that’s not unnatural and any show can suffer a quick dip in viewers and ratings, inevitably leading to its cancellation. While to many, one show might be dispensable, to many others it is important- fans. And it is safe to say, even if a show stands cancelled, fans do not easily give up on a story, on characters they love and in fact, if they unite, history is proof that they have the power to keep a show running.

Lucifer: Fanatics of the hellish show “Lucifer” were so vocal online media when Fox dropped the show in 2018 after just two years on air that both Amazon and Netflix considered getting the show. Ultimately, Netflix got it and focused on circulating the fourth season. “Lucifer” was restarted for its fifth and last season on Netflix soon after the fourth season was delivered in May of this current year.

Star Trek: The First series, and one of the principal fan missions to save a Network program, “Star Trek” fans coordinated a letter-composing effort to save the show from being dropped after its second season in 1968. One fan “Bjo” is attributed by numerous fans to be the one to mobilise Trekkies and keep in touch with them, telling them how to write to NBC about the amount of  love the show has garnered. The organisation remunerated their endeavours with one more season, yet dropped the first show after that.

Sense 8: “Sense8” fans were stunned to discover Netflix dropped the science fiction show in 2017 following the arrival of its subsequent season. Fans took to online social media to attempt to persuade the streaming services that “Sense8” was worth saving. Netflix consented to shooting an appropriate finale for the show, since the season finale left a ton uncertain, yet would not bring the show back after that. The finale was discharge in 2018.
