Why social media may not be the best for people with body dysmorphic disorder.

Social media is full of people that are all different from each other. While everyone is indeed beautiful in their way, there is always that one example of what “conventional beauty” is, and everyone strives to achieve it. Body dysmorphia is a serious issue and seeing such posts about how “this” is beautiful while “that” is not, makes it much worse for the viewer. Another way that social media is not good for Body Dysmorphic Disorder is that most people tend to only show the highlights of their life, when they are perfectly dressed or immediately after working out, so you in your natural state may not feel as good about yourself. What makes it worse is the use of Photoshop in pictures. No one looks their best at all times of the day but that is what social media portrays, giving everyone somewhat unattainable goals to strive for.
