“Likes” on social media do not define your self worth

I’m sure every person today is active on at least one social media platform. We have indulged ourselves so much in the social media world that we cannot live without it. Social media is an integral part of our lives and it has also become a necessity. One cannot do without using social media at least once a day. With the rise of the internet, social media usage has also gone up and there are new technologies and updates available every day. 

From the latest news to fashion trends and memes, everything is available on these social media platforms. Mainly created for entertainment purposes, these social media platforms have become a money-making business today. With the blogger and influencer culture rising, social media has divided people. More than connecting with others, social media has become a home for likes, views, and shares. 

What happens here is that people have now started measuring their self-worth based on their social media likes, If you do not have enough likes on your social media accounts, you are considered unfamous or someone who isn’t social enough. There have been cases where people have had low self-esteem just because of the number of likes they have on their posts. Today, we have started comparing ourselves with influencers. People don’t understand that it is their job to post on social media and that they will get likes because their reach is wide. 

Also, having 5000 likes doesn’t make you a better person than the one having just 100. Likes do not measure anybody’s worth. They are created by social media platforms to increase their usage and popularity. If you have a lesser number of likes that doesn’t make you any less of a good human being. The social media world is a trap that many people have fallen into. Likes and views are intangible objects that do not define one’s success. 

Another thing is that you should stop comparing yourself with others who have more likes than you. This will affect your self-esteem and your morale will only go down.
