Actors who stepped away from typical roles and absolutely

A great actor always keeps looking for new opportunities and challenging roles in their career. To find the right role and completely immerse themselves into those characters is part of their job. However, some popular actors have seemed to have adapted to a particular type of role and they often portray the same role. But sometimes, they need to play some unique or different character to get out-of-the-ordinary. Some actors play it exceptionally well that we don’t even feel the shift from their comfort zone to the new role.

Here’s the list of such actors who decided to step out of their familiar role and played a different role successfully:

Emma Watson

To break down people’s perception of her smart, bookish nerdy in the Harry Potter films, Emma Watson featured in Sofia Coppola’s The Bling Ring. The film is based on real-life events, as an insensitive, ego-centric Nicki who with the help of her friends robs the Hollywood homes of young, affluent socialites. This role singled her out and was admired by the audience as she came out of her comfort zone and ascertained her extraordinary potential.

Ranveer Singh

Ranveer Singh impressed the audience with the portrayal of Sultan Alauddin Khilji’s role in the movie Padmaavat. Even though we have seen him play a warrior before, in this film he was completely distinct. Ranveer took his first villain with absolute grace, got into the skin of the character and performed incredibly well.

Jennifer Aniston

When Friends ended, Jen agreed to act in rom-com movies, starring in films like Along Came Polly, The Break-Up, and The Bounty Hunter. After that, she took a challenging role of a manipulative dentist who sexually tortures her male assistant in the 2011 crime caper Horrible Bosses, and she revealed a new side to her acting.

Manoj Bajpayee

A depraved alpha-male from Wasseypur, Bajpayee took a 360-degree twist on his character of Sardar Khan, with his role of Ramchandra Siras in Hansal Mehta’s film. Bajpayee in this film played the role of a professor, who is sacked because of his sexual orientation. The shift in his character was extraordinarily great.

Gary Oldman

This versatile actor has multiple roles including Sid Vicious, Lee Harvey Oswald, and pimp Drexl which all varied from his traditional British roots. Then too, he gave his best shot in the form of corrupt DEA agent Norman Stansfield in Leon, while his most known role is that of Jim Gordon in the Nolan’s Dark Knight film series.

Anne Hathaway

When filmmakers confirmed that Anne Hathaway was going to play Selina Kyle in Christopher Nolan’s ending to the Dark Knight trilogy, many people began to raise their voices. People detested the idea that she was going to be a catwoman. But the perceptions were changed when the previously whiter-than-white actress did justice to the role of Selina Kyle. Those who initially protested her suitability for the role found themselves calmed after the release of the film.
