Every brand is different like fire and ice, which is why every brand has their won way of marketing and promoting their brand. Which marketing tactics out of short-term or long-term would be better is a difficult question to answer. 

To start with, short-term marketing is basically using the marketing tactics are those that are used to garner a temporary attention and traffic to your business. Short-term tactics are really crucial if you are starting off a new business. During pandemic, a lot of people started off with small-scale industries that were fairly new, this is where short-term tactics are important. 

Pay Per Click (PPC) campaigns are the most used marketing tactics as it helps the brand become visible to the potential customers. Since, it also heavily relies on online mode, it is a great way to go about it in pandemic.

Social Media Marketing (SEM) is yet another means of promoting brands during quarantine. Social media has been growing on a fast pace which is why it better to make the optimum use out of it, sitting at home in the luxury of our own houses. 

There is a slight drawback of short-term marketing tactics, that these strategies are costly and a little on the pricier side if compared to long-term tactics. But that doesn’t mean it is not crucial or important, as establishing your name in the market world is of key importance. 

Now coming to long-term marketing tactics. Long-term tactics are those that help the brand stay up there even after years. You wouldn’t want your brand to have “2 seconds of fame” right? You would want your brand to sustain and have that position for a long time. This is where long-term marketing comes in the frame.

Unlike SEM, long-term tactics use SEO that is Search Engine Optimization as one of the means. It is organic and may take a long period of time but would be fruitful at the end if established. Know your target audience and look for specific keywords, this helps the brand stand out in the sea of brands. Since it is pandemic, your brand does have time to build itself and be the underdog.

Social Media is another great way to bring attention the brand and this is something that people have been indulging in during lockdown. The pandemic has forced people to stay at their houses and social media has been a big escape for them. Social Media marketing is the key.

Ideally, both long-term as well as short term marketing tactics are equally important for brands during lockdown, so it is on the brand and their target audience. It’s on them to take their pick and decide which tactic would be more suitable and work better for them.
