Health has no weight

We often associate health with weight, if a person is fat, we assume he/she is unfit or unhealthy, and if a person is skinny, we assume he/she is healthy and is maintaining himself/herself. This is something that we don’t even think about, it just comes naturally to us. It is because that’s how we see other people talking about weight and health and we learn from what we see. But medical conditions are way different than our perceptions. Our perceptions do not allow us to see or think practically which is so unfortunate. Let’s understand that not every fat person is unhealthy and not every skinny person is healthy. It all varies depending on what we look after ourselves.

Getting your body fat checked is something that all doctors recommend. It all depends on that. Everyone has different body types which are why they react differently. Sometimes, a person maintaining a healthy diet may still be not as skinny and a person eating all the junk in the world may appear skinny. This is no way, means that the person is healthy. What shows on the body does not determine health, it just determines weight and health and weight and two separate things.

Being skinny or losing a lot of weight should never be your goal or target. And at times, people confuse a skinny body to be fit. This is in no way is true. There are a lot of people who extensively diet and starve themselves to get leaner or thinner. Never do that. Understand that every body type is different. Instead of aiming to be thin, aim to be healthy. Try to maintain a healthy diet and include some exercise in your daily routine. It can be anything, walking, running, gym, or skipping. Sometimes, while starving, to get thinner, one gets weaker, which again in no way is healthy.

Bodies do not define who you are. Be it skinny or fat, it’s all in the head and it depends on how you look at yourself. Love yourself and the world can adjust. Being fit and healthy is something that you should work on, not being skinny or curvy. If you are skinny and still healthy, kudos, and if you are fat and healthy, kudos to you too. No need to change. But, if you are not healthy, then take the first step towards health, is important. Health will sustain and for it to sustain, we need to put in some effort.
