Hinglish is a very Funny Language

“I can walk Hinglish, I can talk Hinglish, Hinglish is a very funny language”, but what does this Hinglish mean? Hinglish is basically an amalgamation of 2 languages, Hindi and English and it is spoken only in India. It is not a language that existed, but a language that we made ourselves. Hinglish started gaining a lot of popularity in the early 1960s when Shobha De started mixing these two languages for people to understand better.

India has a lot of English speakers, but again most people are comfortable speaking in Hindi. According to the research, not a lot of people are well-versed in speaking complete Hindi or English and most people speak Hinglish, which happens to be the combination of two. The language highly reflects the way songs are made and also the things we see in movies and TV shows. No one uses pure Hindi, it is always a mixture of the two languages. This is how it became so popular.

Language is an expression and also a way of expressing and in India, it is observed that most people are unable to speak clean Hindi, without using some English words in the middle. This is why the language became so widely known. A lot of advertisements use this language, making the people feel more connected. For example, Pepsi’s “Yeh Dil Mange More” is an amalgamation of the two languages and it became a phrase the people were using too often. Similarly, a lot of songs like “Chamak Challo” and a lot of movie titles like “Dear Zindagi” are used for people to feel more connected to the concept.

It remains an incorporation of two languages, but something everyone understands. It blurs the lines between different castes speaking different languages as it binds people together. India, as a country is massive where every few kilometers, the language and the dialect changes. Hinglish is something that everyone understands and that everyone can respond to, regardless of caste, religion, language or state.
