How packaging is also important to the success of a product

“Don’t judge a book by its cover”, a saying that we thoroughly stand by that applies to humans. But does this apply to the products and brands too? Packaging is okay, but what is inside really matter, right? Well, not so much. Product packaging plays a bigger role in marketing, bigger than what you think. A lot of us might have gone through this scenario where we just bought a perfume or a lipstick just because we liked how it looked. This was just a mere example, there are many more reasons why packaging is important for the success of a product.

First and foremost, it sets the product aside from the pool of products. There are so many similar products available and packaging is the one that sets it apart and helps one identity and differentiate it the product. The packaging also makes it more eye-catching and attractive making the consumer buy it more. Let’s take an example here. There are so many flavours of Kurkure available, we don’t remember their names. We always purchase it saying “The orange one” or “The yellow one”.

It creates a sense of branding. Believe it or not, good packaging creates a sense of brand in the consumers mind that the product will be nice. Consumers react to packaging instantly and if they packaging is good, they would want to buy it because they are tempted. It is noticed that a good brand always invests in creating good packaging for its consumers as it is an important marketing tool as well. It helps the audience get attracted to it and eventually buy it.

Packaging creates a brand recognition and recall value that is so important. How can a normal consumer recognise a brand without looking at its name? It’s through the packaging. A lot of brands sell a lot of products just on the basis of packaging. Let’s take an example, when we see a tick on the product, we automatically know its Nike without even reading the brand name. This is because their packaging is so strong and we recognise it instantly. Packaging is not just about the outer part but it’s also about how the audience and the consumer know and recognise it, which is why it is so important.

Packaging may not be a very big concept but it is a very big part of a marketing concept. It plays a very important role in the marketing and in the sales. So, when a brand created, most marketers pay special details and attention into making packaging that will attract the consumers and will be sustainable.
