How the entertainment industry illtreats animals.

Imagine being poked, tortured, and stuffed in a filthy truck! Seems torturous, right? The same is the state of animals in the showbiz and entertainment industry. The animals are literally used to serve and entertain human beings. They are deprived of their natural habitat and are put in a place that is alien to them. With no basic facilities provided to them, these animals stay in a state of misery.

Animals like elephants, lions, tigers, and bears are used in zoos or other entertainment shows. Films and TV series also make use of animals like dogs. The showbiz industry makes use of animals but doesn’t give them the right treatment in return.

Why are animals used in the showbiz industry?

The history of using animals for entertainment purposes goes way back to around 2000 BC. Historical evidence of people keeping lions in cages has been found by archeologists. Exotic animals were collected as a symbol of wealth by the rulers of Egypt, Rome, and China. Apart from this, Greeks were one of the firsts to capture animals for educational purposes. Romans used them to entertain crowds by making them fight with gladiators.

History kept aside, even today animals are being used for entertaining people. One of the major reasons for this is that people like seeing something different apart from regular faces. So, the usage of animals started. Animals can perform stunts that humans possibly cannot. They are trained extensively for shows and films. But the story doesn’t end there. These animals are kept in filthy conditions with no proper eating or sleeping facilities. They aren’t cleaned properly as well since basic hygiene facilities are not provided to them. Apart from this, if an animal doesn’t perform or act well, it is beaten and tortured. Physical punishment for bad performance is common for animals.

There is a long-standing debate as to whether using animals for TV shows, films, and circuses should be banned. Organizations like PETA have been working hard to expose the torture humans carry out on animals. Other non-profit organizations are also striving hard to ban the usage of animals.

The point is, just because we humans are evolved and advanced, we can trouble other beings who cannot speak. Even if you are training animals for entertainment purposes, make sure they get complete facilities and the physical punishment should be completely negated.

So, what’s your call on this entire debate?
