How to stay active while working a desk job.

Desk jobs are the new “trend.” Accept it or not, today, desk jobs and jobs that require constant sitting in one position have become a dreaded reality. Barring a few, we all have jobs that require us to sit and stare at our computer screens. This makes us lethargic and lazy. And also comes with other health scares. The constant sitting at one place leads us to become very inactive. This inactivity affects both, our body as well as our mind. 

Here are some ways in which a desk job affects us:

  • No movement leads to a slower functioning body

  • Mind functioning slows down

Here’s how you can combat these problems and stay active while working a desk job:

Take a break every hour:

While working on a desk job it is important that you keep taking breaks. This negates the chain of constant sitting. And will be beneficial for you. And by breaks, we don’t mean huge, long breaks. Shorter, hourly breaks of a minute each are also good. 

Walk:

Walking is essential when you have a desk job and have to keep sitting 24/7. Walk whenever you have time in between work or walk t work itself. This will keep your body active and you will also not feel lazy. Regular walking is important as it also keeps mind running actively. 

Do chair exercises:

It can get quite difficult to exercise when you have desk job. You have to continuously keep sitting and there’s no escape. But you and do one thing. That is chair exercises. Today, exercises comes with a lot of variations, and doing the same from your chair is one of them. This will give your body the adequate stretches and you will feels fresh. Look up the internet and you will find millions of variations for the same. 

Stay hydrated:

Staying hydrated and drinking adequate amounts of water is essential if you want to stay active at a desk job. This is the simplest form of keeping oneself active. Water hits the right notes in your body and keeps your mind and body working. If you are dehydrated, you will end up feeling nauseous and lethargic by the end of the day.
