Is social media the best option for forming an opinion?

Everyone has their opinion and everyone has the right to have their opinion as well. But social media has the power to influence that opinion which is why in a way social media is among many options that can form a person’s opinion.

Social media is extremely powerful and in some way, it can even control the way people think. Let’s take an example. When we some someone post something on any social media platform, we instantly believe it to be true without any evidence. When a movie releases, we see it’s reviews on social media and form an opinion around it, even if we haven’t watched it yet. This is just a very small example but very valid.

Social media is like a spectacle that helps us see the world in clarity which is why it is easy to believe and trust what people are saying online. We don’t think much about it if it is true or not. This can prove to be a big disadvantage.

Let’s take a classic example of the Sushant Singh Rajput case. It blew up on social media and spread like wild fire. A lot of people were having their own views and opinions about it, all thanks to social media. Because it was s topic that was constantly put forth on social media, the audience took their pick of which side to believe and formed their opinions without actually any evidence.

Social media has everything and it has knowledge for decades and it is easily accessible. We have now become handicapped without social media. We need Facebook to remember birthdays and we need Pinterest for suggestions. It has now become a part of our day-to-day lives, much like our friend. And, as friends it does have the power to form our opinions.
