Some remakes that were better than the original.

We are in a generation where remakes are becoming extremely popular day-by-day. Remakes of songs, remakes of films, etc. While some are okay with remakes being made, a major chunk of people end-up criticising it. We can’t blame them because the older versions in most cases are just better and we also tend to have a soft spot for them because of memories and nostalgia attached to it. But, as mentioned, in most cases. There are a few remakes that stood out and turned out to be pretty nice and the audience also accepted it completely. Let’s have a look at some of these films.

Devdas (Devdas): Devdas is an adaptable from a novel written by Sarat Chandra Chattopadhyay that goes by the same name. Devdas was made in the year 155 in black and white and in 2002 again. The old one was absolutely beautiful the new one did not disappoint as well. The sets, the direction, the costumes, the performances, and the music, just everything about it was so beautiful and stunning to look at. Because the new one was made on a larger scale, it appealed to the audience more. This is one remake that we would not mind watching at all.

Baazigar (A kiss before dying): Baazigar is a remake of a film called A kiss before dying that was released in the year 1991. As we all know Baazigar is such a classic cult film and is recognised to be one of the best Shah Rukh Khan films ever. Even though, the plotline is pretty much the same, Baazigar just stood out. The performances were wonderful and so was the directed. The music was on point and so was the cinematography. No wonder is still considered a cult.

Sholay (The Magnificent Seven): Most of you will not be aware but Sholay is loosely based on the film “The Magnificent Seven” that was released in the year 1960. We don’t even need to say how popular Sholay is. The film is still considered to be one of the most incredible hindi films of all time. The songs, the performances, the drama, the romance, the dialogues, the direction, the list can go on and on but the praises wouldn’t stop. Sholay is a classic in true sense and will forever rule every Indian heart forever.

Hum Apke Hai Koun (Nadiya ke Paar): Nisha’s smile and Prem’s charm will forever be close to our hearts and nothing can replace the joy of watching Tuffy on-screen. If you didn’t know already, Hum Apke Hai Koun is a remake of an older hindi film called “Nadiya ke Paar”. Both the films are incredibly beautiful and entertaining, but Hum Apke Hai Koun was much more accepted and loved. The film has the most incredible music and the chemistry between the leads is magical. Hum Apke Hai Koun became the highest grossing film and still continues to charm its audience. It still feels and looks fresh as ever which is such an advantage.

Black (The Miracle Worker): Black, a film that moved the audience and shook them to the core. Black was inspired by the story of Helen Keller and is the remake of a 1962 movie, “The Miracle Worker”. Black was such a beautiful film and the performances are absolutely stunning. Amitabh Bachchan won his 2nd National award for this film while Rani Mukherjee won her 2nd Filmfare Award for this film. The Sanjay Leela Bhansali direction was gorgeous and some of the scenes still stick out and feel fresh in our minds.
