The need for knowing more than one language

We live in a world where knowledge is key to every door of success and it is knowledge that will sustain when everything else fails. We live in a multilingual society where we are surrounded by people knowing different languages and since the world is becoming globalised it is the need of the hour for us to know more than one language. We are bounded to interact with people who speak our language but this is the right time to expand our horizon and learn some more.

First and foremost, learning more than one language is very beneficial in career and helps one progress. If you might have noticed, there is always a thing in resume where it is asked “How many languages do you know”. There is a reason why this is asked. There is a huge demand for people who know to speak more than one language, mostly foreign excluding English. It helps the company interact with clients all over the world which is always a bonus.

Secondly, getting to know and learn about different cultures opens up the horizon so much and grows one as an individual itself which is so eye-opening. Getting to know about other cultures through the medium of language is incredible, wouldn’t you say? We as people are very distant and are always engrossed with ourselves and our needs. We never consider knowing and getting to learn about something other than us. But learning a new language may be a start of something positive that may help us blur some lines of differences, which is so beautiful.

It makes you and your brain sharper. Learning a new language is difficult and quite a task. It is not as easy as it might seem. Understanding and learning everything from scratch sharpens your brain and help it develop faster. It is a good exercise for the brain which is always a benefit. It is noticed that after an intense language learning session, one starts to feel more energised and the brain starts working better. It not just helps in sharpening the brain but also helps with improving memory.

Learning something new is always fun and learning a language is not just fun but also proves to be very beneficial in personal, professional as well as social life. Most of us just know one language but widening our horizons is very important. It opens up so many new possibilities and opportunities which is incredible.
