How some TV shows dealt with serious issues.

Television shows are usually made for entertainment purposes and for keeping people happy. They are made to lift the mood of the audience. TV shows create a happy environment for all and we also learn many things from these shows. Knowledge about society or other information is all given to us by TV shows. They also influence people in a variety of ways. There have been many instances where people have taken to doing wrong things by getting inspired by the shows.

There have also been TV shows that have handled sensitive topics in a good way. They have brought serious topics to light and have imbibed a sense of understanding among people.

Here are some shows that handled social issues in a good way:

THAT’S SO RAVEN:

This was one show that tackled many social issues. A very important thing was covered in their “True Colors” episode that showed Raven, the protagonist of the show exposing a racist recruiter at a clothing shop who didn’t hire her because she was black. In another episode, they dealt with the issue of body shaming where Raven’s image on a magazine was edited to make her look lean. 

ONE TREE HILL:

This show was built on authentic and original storylines that had a backdrop of a small town where the characters attended Liberty High. The series captures the atrocities faced by students because of being bullied. It was an extremely authentic show that was appreciated by many. 

BOJACK HORSEMAN:

This animated Netflix original deals with the issue of depression through the character of BoJack. The show humorously deals with mental illnesses without sounding condescending. The inner turmoil of the protagonist was loved by many. 

THIS IS US:

This show has dealt with many serious issues throughout its runtime. This modern American TV series has shown people suffering from eating disorders, a father struggling with PTSD, and an alcoholic TV star who is a dropout. This show tackles multiple issues in a  light-hearted manner
