Is TTL marketing the best option now, given the current situation

Marketing is a creative way to advertise, sell, and promote a product or a service. Due to the pandemic changing the “normal” and traditional way of doing things, brands have had to rethink their marketing strategies and plan according to the current situation. 

Every company has a different working culture, product, and also have a different target audience. It depends on the company how they want to communicate with their target audience. Marketers have two methods in which they conduct their marketing activities. They either promote the product to the audience as a whole or they advertise through focussed communication intended for a specific target market- These marketing methods are- ATL (Above the Line) and BTL (Below the Line) respectively.

With the change in the current situation, marketers are looking for a more integrated approach to advertise their product for both the masses and the focussed target group, simultaneously. TTL (Through the Line) marketing involves a combined tactic of both ATL and BTL which focuses on the integrated approach for advertising.

The main goal in this is to get a wholesome knowledge about the market and communicate with as many customers in every possible way. Since both ATL and BTL activities are used here, TTL techniques lead to better brand visibility and brand recall. TTL approach enables brands to connect with their customers at multiple spikes, creating a positive perception of the company and the product. 

The main problem of TTL activity is that it is relatively expensive as it involves using different advertising campaigns thus meaning that only financially secure companies can afford to invest in TTL activities. There is no one perfect way of marketing, it depends on how the company wants to engage with its audience and what suits its brand/product the best. The major goal, whether using BTL, ATL or TTL marketing strategies, is to understand the market and your target customers and engage with them as much as possible.
