Minimalism, does it make designs better

‘Less in more!’ everyone has heard this term at least once in their life. But what does this mean? And why do we keep hearing it all the time? Less or minimal approach to things is said to be better because it keeps things muted and to the point. We need not put extra efforts for something that will look or feel good with a minimal approach. Going over the top is not always beneficial, be it in real life or in designs.

Yes, designs! Minimalism plays a great role while designing something. Be it dresses, ad or home décor; minimalism is everywhere. But what is minimalism? It was traditionally a movement started by artists post World War II. This movement is often regarded as a reaction to the abstract expressions and modernism. Minimalism refers to anything that comes down to its essentials.

Today, design industry has been taken over by the minimalistic trend. It is one form that expresses and reaches out to people with a strong message.

Here are some reasons as to why minimalism makes designs better:

Keeps things simple:

Minimalism is one thing that is simple in nature. It is not overdosed with objects or colors. A minimalistic design oozes simplicity. There is no crowding in the designs and there are only elements that are most required. For instance, the clothing brand Zara’s logo is simple and minimalist. It gives out as much information it should and isn’t disturbing to the eye.

Talks straight to the point:

Minimalist designs are straight to the point in terms of delivering a message or an idea. Because there is no overcrowding in these designs, the people aren’t confused and get the message that the design wants to deliver.

Catches the attention of people:

Today, with so many designs that are flashy and colorful, a simple minimalist design is sure to grab everyone’s attention. These designs usually make use of one or two muted colors and the elements are limited. Such designs stand out from the crowd and catch people’s attention easily. A lot of Japanese designs incorporate the minimalist point of view.

The above points are a reason why brands and companies are shifting towards a minimalist approach. A recent post was trending some days ago, wherein the artist gave a minimalist touch to famous food chains like McDonald’s and Burger King.

As the world progresses, minimalism has become the need of the hour. People are drifting towards these kinds of designs and they are sure to stay!
